Kroger Employee Caught On Camera Stealing $11,000

A Kroger employee has been arrested after police said he was caught on tape stuffing thousands of dollars in cash up his sleeve.

Store security workers called police to The East 10th Street Kroger Thursday morning after they said they recorded the employee during his routine counting of cash. They said he was caught stuffing money up his sleeve on several occasions, totaling to more than $11 thousand between May 9 and early Thursday morning. 25 year old James Hall, was booked on a felony charge of theft.


Indianapolis Couple Wins $1M Powerball

An Indianapolis couple won the $1M Powerball prize yesterday. Floyd and Jan Shirrell bought the winning ticket at a Speedway gas station on West County Line Road on the city’s south side, officials said. The Shirrells matched five of the six winning numbers. Hoosier Lottery officials confirmed the couple’s ticket Thursday morning.  They’ll take home about $700,000 after taxes, officials said.

Nationally, none of the tickets sold matched all six numbers, which pumped up the jackpot to $475

million for Saturday night’s drawing.


One Hit and Killed Early Friday Morning

One person has been killed in a hit-and-run crash on the city’s east side.

This happened just after 3 this morning near Arlington Avenue and Brookville Road, when a van and a SUV collided. Police said The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead at the scene. Two people in the van jumped out and ran from the scene, but police were able to catch them after a short chase. The victim’s name was not released.


Two Early Morning Fires in Indianapolis

Two fires damaged a building and a garage on the city’s south side early this morning. The first fire was reported just before 1 a.m. at a two-story brick building in the 2500 block of Shelby Street.

Crews got the fire under control in about 30 minutes and detectives estimated about $150,000 in damages to the building.

The second fire sparked inside a garage near a home on Minnesota Street on the city’s southeast side. Crews were called to the scene just after 2 a.m. and were able to quickly douse the flames. No injuries were reported in either fire and their causes are still under investigation.
