Despite Glitches ISTEP Scores Rise

Despite the glitches during this year’s ISTEP testing, scores are up slightly. According to data from a study sponsored by the Indiana Department of Education, a majority of students scored as well as they would have had the interruptions never happened. Bus Survivors Health Improving 

The most seriously injured survivor of Saturday’s bus crash is out of ICU.  Officials say only four-people remain hospitalized and all are improving.  Thirty-seven members of the Colonial Baptist Church were on their way back from summer camp in Michigan when the bus flipped on its side while exiting I-465.

 

Bisard: I “Acted Like A Child.”

Former IMPD officer David Bisard says he’s “acted like a child the last three-years.”  Speaking to another officer while heading into a pretrial hearing, Bisard said instead of letting it go, he did what he had to do.  It was also revealed on Monday that the Fraternal Order of Police spent 250-thousand-dollars defending Bisard against his deadly 2010 drunk driving crash. The FOP stopped supporting Bisard after he was arrested for DUI again earlier this year.

Southport Cop Sentenced For Girlfriends Murder

A former Southport police officer was sentenced to five years in prison for involuntary manslaughter in the killing of his estranged girlfriend on Monday. 45-year-old Michael Richards, received the sentencing under a plea deal in the death of 44-year-old Michelle Andrews. Andrews was found dead in June of 2012 inside her Greenwood apartment. Autopsy results confirmed that Andrews died of blunt force trauma. Richards has already spent one year behind bars.
