Afternoons with Amos kicked off its coverage of Election 2014 with its first of what will be the most live candidate interviews of any Indianapolis media – Print – TV – Radio. For the past several election years, Afternoons with Amos has made it a practice that on key races that impact Indianapolis African-American community, the program invites every candidate on the ballot for those races.  Regardless of the candidates popularity or notoriety. In the General Election, Afternoons with Amos has included candidates from not only the Democratic and Republican and Libertarian Parties in key races, but independent candidates on the ballot as well.  Kicking off AWA’s coverage of the Election 2014 were candidates in the Democratic Primary for Wayne Township trustee. Appearing on the program were former trustee David Baird; C. Renee Pack who has been endorsed (slated) by the Marion County democratic Party. A third candidate, Douglas White, did not respond to AWA’s invitation.  Baird and Pack discussed a wide range of issues in the Trustee’s race, including assistance for those township resident hard hit by the economy.  Also the township’s independent fire department which was recently threatened by a bill in the Legislature which would have forced the Wayne Township Fire Department to merge with the Indianapolis Fire Department.
