Actress and producer Roma Downey hopes that “The Bible” mini-series and the film “Son of God” that she produced along with her husband, Mark Burnett, will become favorite films for Christians during the Easter season, just as “The Ten Commandments” and “The Greatest Story Ever Told” are staple annual films.

“People are in that head-space and in that heart-space. It’s that time of the year where people are much more reflective and much more open to connecting with their faith,” said Downey, according to USA Today. “People come together with their families to celebrate Easter. What better way to celebrate than to spend a few hours going on the journey of Christ’s life.”

The 1956 film “The Ten Commandments” and the 1965 movie “The Greatest Story Ever Told” are “fantastic viewings,” she said, “but they are dated.”

“For this generation of moviegoers, this is an opportunity to breathe fresh visual life into the story of Jesus,” Downey added.
