Millions of Americans will be grilling over this holiday weekend, and food safety experts from the USDA want you to protect yourself and your guests from food-borne illnesses. One way is by properly handling and cooking meat. They say it’s important to use a meat thermometer when you’re grilling burgers because burgers that appear to be fully cooked often end up making people sick. One in six Americans get food poisoning every year, and about three-thousand die annually.
