Ask Canton Jones what he does, and the list is long…”Singer, Producer, Vocal Arranger, Youth Pastor and Entrepreneur, as well as a full-time father, husband and lover of the Father.” Simply put, Jones is about “Kingdom Business.”
He is also the Youth Pastor and Out Reach Coordinator at New Hope Church where Rhys Stenner is the Senior pastor in Fayetteville, GA.
Jones has served in this position for 2 ½ years where he says, “I sort of bring the hood into this Southern Baptist Church and it works.” The collaboration has also been pretty interesting as well, as Jones background is Church of God In Church (COGIC) and the church that employs him is Southern Baptist with a British pastor, from Wells, England.
However on Tuesday, July 29, 2014 Jones will be a bit more focused as the true artist that he is, when he drops his latest CD GOD CITY USA. This will also mark his 5th Solo project, which Jones is extremely excited about.
Along the way Jones has also had several Mixed Tapes, Compilations which have served as platforms for other artists, but this latest release has a different over message.
“GOD CITY USA, Is a declaration to take over our cities regardless of what type of situation you are in. Even if you live in the Murder Capital, Aids Capital, Teen Pregnancy Capital, we have to remember that life and death is in the power of the tongue, but with this CD which is also part of a Movement, it is our hope is to help communities establish a Declaration to put God back in their city and to put prayer back in the schools,” says Jones.
Jones also calls the CD title “a faith movement that is bigger than the record itself.”
However once the CD is released, Jones directions of energy will shift once again to his soon to be release Independent movie, “Between Love and a Hard Place,” starring Bern Nadette Stanis, Regina Wells and Canton Jones. The movie will be released on Jones company Seven Lions, and will be available on DVD and digitally.
In the meantime, Canton continues to tour, take care of his family and love on his kids, who he also names his CD’s after. “People probably don’t realize it, but yeah I name my CD’s after my kids. For example, Love Jones that came out in 2005 was named after my daughter and Domionaire was named after his son,” says Jones.
Simply put, Jones is tightly connected to everything he does, and lives what he says and sings about.
