A “Hands Up” walkout of Congressional staffers Thursday on Capitol Hill was only the beginning of what is shaping up to be several days of planned peaceful protest in reaction to how the justice system has handled the killings of unarmed black men and boys by police, including Michael Brown, Eric Garner, Akai Gurley and Tamir Rice. This weekend, Dec. 13-14, protest actions are being planned across the nation, including:

WASHINGTON, DC

The largest may be the “Justice For All” march in Washington, D.C., co-convened by National Action NetworkBlack Women’s Round Table, NAACP and National Urban League along with partners from civil rights groups, organized labor and faith communities. According to a released statement by NAN, the march to the U.S. Capitol will be led by the families of slain unarmed males, including Eric Garner’s widow Esaw Garner and mother Gwen Carr; Michael Brown’s father Michael Brown, Sr. and mother Lesley McSpadden; Tamir Rice’s mother Samaria Rice; Trayvon Martin’s mother Sybrina Fulton and father Tracy Martin. Also joining the march will be the parents of John Crawford, the domestic partner of Akai Gurley; and the mother of Amadou Diallo. It will culminate with the announcement of a legislative agenda, say the organizers.

Marchers are asked to gather at Freedom Plaza, 13th Street and Pennsylvania N.W., at 10:30 a.m. At noon they will head to the Capitol and rally at Third Street and Pennsylvania Avenue, N.W. MORE.

NEW YORK CITY

New Yorkers also plan to rally on Saturday under the banner of Millions March NYC. Union Square and Washington Square Park in Manhattan are among the locations around the city where ralliers will gather. MORE.

NATIONWIDE

Ferguson Action lists protests and other actions happening across the country on Dec. 13 (which it calls a National Day of Resistance) and throughout the weekend. The group even invites you to host and list your own actionMORE.

On Dec. 14 many churches will be participating in Black Life Matters Sunday, reports the L.A. Sentinel. Parishioners will be asked to wear black to church, “buy black,” and pray for the well-being of young men and boys. MORE.
