caresource logoIt’s the second year of signing individuals and families up for health insurance coverage under the Affordable Care Act (aka ObamaCare). This year there’s more companies offering more health insurance plans and options through the Health Care Marketplace at the HealthCare.Gov website and the 24/7 phone center at 1-800-318-2596.  One of those companies is CareSource a leading non-profit managed care company based in Dayton, Ohio that has been meeting the needs of health care consumers for more than 25 years.

CareSource provided healthcare coverage through the Health Care Marketplace last year in Ohio and they’ve expanded into Indiana.  In a special edition of Afternoons with Amos, officials of CareSource in Ohio and Indiana joined with an Official Indiana Navigator to answer the community’s questions and concerns about health insurance and health insurance coverage options.  Navigators aren’t salespersons or agents, but officially licensed individuals through Indiana’s Department of Insurance who are trained to provide Hoosiers with information about the Health Insurance Marketplace plans, policies and programs and help then find the best health insurance plans for themselves and their families.

They walked listeners and the community though the basics of medial insurance and tried to make simple the somewhat complicated rules involved in the Affordable Care Act.  In the program it was explained that individuals over 65 don’t need insurance through the Affordable Care Act, because they get their health insurance from Medicare.  There was also discussion on if you have health insurance through your employer what the rules are on possibly switching to a plan through Affordable Care Act. The guests from CareSource also explained their unique CareSource Just4Me plans through the HealthCare.Gov website.
