Actress Phylicia Rashad is joining the cast of Creed, which is a new take on the Rocky franchise.
Reports say Rashad will play Apollo Creed’s widow, Mary Ann Creed. This means she will be Michael B. Jordan’s grandmother in “Creed.” Jordan plays Adonis Creed.
The film will be directed by Ryan Coogler and follows Adonis who is raised in wealth and privilege thanks to his late grandfather’s lucrative boxing career. Adonis decides to follow his grandfather’s path and start boxing. He enlists the aid of Rocky Balboa who is played by Sylvester Stallone to be his trainer and mentor.
