It’s the end of an era. John Stewart announced that he’s stepping down from The Daily Show during Tuesday’s taping this week.
In the emotional announcement he said, “I’m not gonna try to sum up what this place has meant to me over the years… I’ve got plenty of time.” He went on to say, “I’m not going anywhere tomorrow. But this show doesn’t deserve an even slightly restless host, and neither do you.”
Stewart has been at the helm of the popular show since 1999. He’s set to tape his last show later this year.
