WP_20150224_14_42_45_Pro 1In the first of what will be numerous interviews and opportunities for Indianapolis to hear from the candidates for Indianapolis City-County Council, Afternoons with Amos’ Candidate Tuesday’s kicked off with an interview with one of the newest members of the Council.  The Rev. Stephen Clay, Pastor of Messiah Missionary Baptist Church was appointed in December to the Council to finish the term of Councilman Steve Talley who is now the Lawrence Township Trustee.  Councilman Clay is the first Minister to serve on the City-County Council since the creation of UniGov in 1971.  But he is not the first minister to ever serve on the Indianapolis City Council.  Councilman Clay is running, unopposed, for the Democratic nomination for Council in District 13. Councilman Clay appeared on Afternoons with Amos to talk about key issues facing the Council. Councilman Clay talked about taking the focus off of downtown and moving the attention and resources of the city into its neighborhoods. Reducing crime and just as important improving job opportunities are a major issue in District 13 Councilman Clay told listeners who brought up a variety of issues themselves, including increasingly high utility bills, the lack of retail opportunities in District 13.  Council District 13Councilman Clay said he was taking a hard look at the proposals to build the Marion County Justice Center and also to provide a multimillion dollar subsidy to Angie’s List in return for the troubled company providing over a 1,000 jobs to the city. Because the boundaries and in many some cases numbers for City-County Council Districts have changed, each time PraiseIndy.Com posts Council Interviews we will include a map of the district and some basic District Information.  COUNCIL DISTRICT 13 – BOUNDARIES – North – 56th Street.
