Former Rep. Jesse Jackson Jr. is slated to be released from a federal prison camp in Montgomery, Alabama Thursday. According to Former Rep. Patrick Kennedy, who spoke with Jackson earlier this week, he will leave the camp and finish his sentence at a halfway house in Washington, D.C. “I went in there to say hello and catch up and tell him that I wanted to be there for him when he came out,” said Kennedy. “And he told me, ‘Guess what? I’m going to be out in almost 48 hours.’” Two years ago, Jackson pleaded guilty to using upwards of $750,000 of campaign money to purchase luxury items. Read more.


Atlanta Is Disproportionately Plagued by Income Inequality

According to a new report that focused on income disparities in the country’s 50 biggest cities, Atlanta, Georgia is the top city that is plagued by income inequality. The research shows that the income gap is 19.2 percent between the highest and lowest earning families, which is equivalent to a $288,200 to $15,000 dollar ratio. Atlanta and other cities are reportedly trying to raise the minimum wage to close the gap. Cities that encompass more equally dispersed incomes include Virginia Beach, VA and Mesa, AZ. Read more.

Songstress Beyoncé is looking to expand her imprint in the realm of fashion. After teaming up with Topshop for an active wear line, she’s now joining forces with luxury shoe brand Giuseppe Zanotti. According to Zanotti, the design is in its final stages. “I’m doing a shoe with Beyoncé right now. I’m working on finalizing the shoe with her stylist right now. And Beyonce will then say what she likes and what she doesn’t like. It will be one shoe only,” he said. “Beyonce has very clear ideas – she knows exactly what she wants.” Read more.
