The field is set for the November general election for Mayor of Indianapolis. After Tuesday’s Primary Election, Joe Hogsett handily beat his field with 89 percent of the vote and will take on Republican Chuck Brewer. There’s your face off. Brewer, the GOP-slated candidate tallied 77 percent of the vote in the primary.

Three of your Indianapolis City-County Councilors handled their business at the polls during Tuesday’s municipal primary elections in their races to hold on to their council seats as incumbents. They handled this feat  in the face of district boundaries that had been updated–redrawn forcing some of them out and others, simply forced upon.

On the northwest side in District One–Democrat Leroy Robinson held on by 26 votes to beat Angela Mansfield in an unofficial result win. Mansfield is likely to hold on until it’s official. Right now Robinson leads in the tally 741 to 715.

On the northeast side in District Three–it was a GOP insider dog fight. First-term Councilwoman Christine Scales pulled in 53.5 percent of the vote over party-slated candidate Tim Craft who pulled in 46 percent of the vote. Scales will now take on Dem Pam Hickman.

Back to the Dems on the city’s westside in District 22–Jared Evans was the victor with no problem over Stephanie Vibbert. Evans pulled in an impressive 64.7 percent of the vote to win over Vibbert’s 35.2 percent. Evans will now try to unseat GOP’er Robert Lutz in November.

In Carmel, Mayor Jim Brainard defeated Rick Sharp and will serve for an unprecedented sixth-term. Noblesville Mayor John Ditslear and Westfield Mayor Andy Cook are also “staying put” in office. Voters in Wayne Township, Perry Township, Beech Grove and Frankfort approved requests for more money to make various improvements to their school districts.
