Metro police are busy this Monday morning still working to find out who shot and killed a woman overnight just south of downtown. They suspect robbery was the motive according to witness accounts. The yet unnamed victim was found lying in the street at around 1:15 a.m. shot multiple times on South East Street. Fox 59 News is reporting she’s a mom of two and her parents have arrived on the scene.

Indianapolis police are also investigating the death of man found shot in his north side apartment. The victim is identified as Chaz Bennington. A neighbor made the gruesome discovery of Bennington’s body after the neighbor had been contacted by his family. Police haven’t said if there are suspects.

Bullets were flying this weekend at one of the city’s landmarks. Two people are in critical condition from a shooting incident outside a private party held at the Madame Walker Theatre. Police suspect it started with a disturbance at the under-21 age event Saturday night. Several people were waiting to get in the capacity-filled event when the shooting happened on the parking lot. One person was shot in the head and the other in the buttocks. No word on suspects at this time.

Though the search at a landfill has been called off for a missing three-month-old baby, police have not stopped investigating what happened to her. More than 50 metro police officers scoured a landfill on Sunday and did other weekend searches looking for Janna Rivera following a tip from the boyfriend of Janna’s mother. IMPD detectives called off that landfill search with the conclusion that the child was dead, based on the father’s statements. He told them the baby’s body was left in a dumpster on Indy’s east side Friday. Police say the mother called 9-1-1 that same day claiming her baby was gone.

Thoughts and prayers are still coming into Vice President Joe Biden and his family, this following the death of his son, Beau Biden.  President Obama and the First Lady visited with the Biden’s Sunday at the vice president’s official residence at the U.S. Naval Observatory. Secretary of State John Kerry called Beau, “a son any father might hope to raise.”  Beau Biden died on Saturday from brain cancer at the age of 46. He was Delaware’s attorney general for eight years and served in Iraq with the Delaware Army National Guard. In addition to his father and step-mother, Beau Biden leaves behind a wife and two small children.

The Senate will continue trying to resolve differences over key provisions of the USA Patriot Act later today. Those provisions have now expired including those that deal with the NSA’s bulk collection of Americans’ phone records.

Back here at home, a political move may be in the works. Indiana schools Superintendent Glenda Ritz is expected to announce a run for governor this week.  The Democrat has said she’s considering a run. Her campaign Facebook page says there will be a special campaign announcement Thursday at Ben Davis High School.

Two destroyed homes are now added to the wreckage left from storms that moved through Indy on Saturday. Fire officials say both were single-level homes where the structure collapsed from heavy winds and rain. No injuries were reported.

Also we know in those storms was at least one small twister. That tornado is confirmed to be behind some of the damage here in Indy. The National Weather Service says the twister touched down near Southeastern Avenue and South Irvington just before 9 p.m. They say it traveled about a third of a mile and left a path of ground damage about 40 yards wide.

Speaking of weather…

You may need your umbrella today…there’s a chance of showers this morning.  Expect cloudy skies the rest of the day and a High of 69 degrees.

Finally there’s a bit of “KimYe” news…
