It’s been nearly a year since Tracy Morgan was critically injured in a car accident that took the life of a dear friend and mentor to the comedian. For the first time since the tragic accident, Morgan appeared on the Today’s Show to talk about his rocky past year.
During the interview with Matt Lauer, Morgan became very emotional when he talked about James “Jimmy Mack” McNair who perished in the crash. He spoke about finding out about his death when he awoke from a coma he had been in for two weeks after the accident. The reality of McNair’s death didn’t hit him until he came home from the hospital and actually watched his funeral on YouTube. Morgan said he was really torn up for about a week about it.
He says he’s not a 100 percent yet and wants to focus on healing for now. But, he has high hopes that he’ll be making people laugh again one day.
