Mainstream artist Chance The Rapper headlined the 2015 Pitchfork Music Festival this weekend in Chicago’s Union Park.

One of the most talked about performances was “Sunday Candy,” because the lyricist welcomed multi-platinum selling gospel luminary, Kirk Franklin, to the stage.

Chance The Rapper, real name Chancelor Bennett, 22, brought the Christian overtones of “Sunday Candy” into focus with the “Stomp” singer’s arrival on the platform.

Backed by a full choir, it felt like Sunday morning in Chi-town.

“Sunday Candy” is a collaboration with Donnie Trumpet & The Social Experiment that first appeared on the MC’s Surf album earlier this year.

For fans of Franklin within the Christian community, the link-up may have seemed shocking, but for Chance The Rapper fans, it was anything but.
