Hot on the heels of one local grocery chain, Double 8 Foods, announcing a closure that put 40 employees out of a job, comes news today that another grocery chain is expanding and providing economic opportunity. Kroger is opening several stores here in Indianapolis. Spokesman John Elliott said 1,200 new hires will be needed to fill their open positions. Kroger is holding a job fair Tuesday through Thursday of this week. Interested applicants should go to Castleton Square Mall from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. each day. They will be near the H&M and Forever 21 store locations. Headquartered in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kroger serves customers across Indiana with various supermarkets and grocery locations under multiple names.
