The faith-based drama “War Room” was a huge success at the box office this weekend. The film brought in $11 million, according to studio estimates reported by Rentrak.
War Room is based on the story of a crumbling marriage that is saved by prayer and faith.
“‘War Room’ is a resounding success,” Rentrak analyst Paul Dergarabedian said, “Proving that in a sea of R-rated fare, the film benefited from filling a void in the marketplace for a largely underserved audience.”
And, for the third weekend in a row, “Straight Outta Compton” snagged the number one spot with $13.2 million and a total of $134.1 million. Tom Cruise’s “Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation,” came in number three with $8.3 million.
