When he was a boy, gospel recording artist Darwin Hobbs was victimized by sexual abuse. Today, he says he’s not a victim, but a survivor.

“I embraced more of a survivor and a conqueror posture, and that’s because of my awareness of what the Word of God says about who I am,” Hobbs said.

In an interview with Charisma Magazine, the 46-year-old said he has been helped by God’ word—“not necessarily my own truth, but the truth of who He says I am and how I should live and how I should look at the facts of the past.”

The Cincinnati native was first featured on “The Oprah Show” in 2010, along with 200 other male abuse survivors, during the former daytime juggernaut’s final season.
