Legendary boxer Muhammad Ali is facing obstacles related to his health. According to his former manager Gene Kilroy, the 73-year-old has been having a tough time battling Parkinson’s disease. He was diagnosed 31 years ago. “It’s hard seeing him as he is today,” said Kilroy. “He can just about walk and his speech is slurred. It takes huge effort for him to make the simplest communication now, but when he does, every word is worthwhile. But even now he has no fear. He says, ‘I’ll stay here as long as God wants me to. When my time comes I’ll have no regrets. I have achieved a lot.’” Ali has been in and out of the hospital a few times recently, once for pneumonia and another time for a urinary tract infection after he was discovered unresponsive in bed. Trevor Noah Undergoes Emergency Surgery
The Daily Show host Trevor Noah has been on a roll ever since his show premiered, but he was forced to miss a taping last night after he reportedly underwent appendectomy emergency surgery on Wednesday morning. “We’re happy to report the procedure went well and he is currently recuperating from the surgery,” said Comedy Central in a statement. Omar Epps and Malik Yoba Join Forces to Produce Documentary about Fatherhood
Actors Omar Epps and Malik Yoba are stepping behind the camera and teaming up to executive produce a documentary that captures the journeys of four young fathers. The film, titled Daddy Don’t Go, shows how fathers living in low-income, inner city communities strive to do the best for their children. Shot over a two-year period, the documentary was directed by Emily Abt, who has produced films for networks like Showtime, OWN, MTV, and PBS. Daddy Don’t Go is slated to premiere at the 2015 DOC NYC this month. Read more.
