By now, you have probably heard about the craze over Patti LaBelle’s sweet potato pies that are currently being sold at Walmart. You have probably even seen the viral video of a man singing like Patti after eating the pie. The craze is real, and Walmart is having trouble keeping up.
Walmart says that for 72 hours straight, they were selling one pie per second. That’s nearly $1 million in sweet potato pie sales! Many stores are sold out, but the retail giant says it is working hard to restock. Walmart commented that the pie supplier actually ran out of sweet potatoes, delaying the restock of the highly demanded product.
