GOP candidate Donald Trump is known for making outlandish remarks, especially when it comes to race and religion in our country. Just this week, Trump said there should be a database that keeps track of Muslims within our country. “There should be a lot of systems, beyond databases,” he told NBC News yesterday. “I would certainly implement that, absolutely.” During another interview, he said he would go to extreme measures to monitor those of Islamic faith, even if it means going as far as conducting searches without warrants. 16 Arrested in Beirut Bombings
Lebanese officials arrested several people last night in relation to two suicide bombings that took the lives of 44 people last week in Beirut. ISIS claimed responsibility for the attack. The bombings are just the latest violent act in relation to the Syrian civil war. According to a security source, the raids that happened in Beirut and Tripoli helped disassemble “networks that were planning to carry out a series of similar operations (to those in Beirut), in more than one location.” So far, 16 people have been arrested. Ben Carson Calls Syrian Refugees “Rabid Dogs”
Donald Trump isn’t the only GOP candidate who has been outspoken about Syrian refugees following the terror attacks in Paris; frontrunner Ben Carson recently shared his thoughts about the group as well. Carson compared the refugees to “rabid dogs.” “For instance, you know, if there is a rabid dog running around your neighborhood, you’re probably not going to assume something good about that dog, and you’re probably gonna put your children out of the way. Doesn’t mean that you hate all dogs by any stretch of the imagination,” he said. “Who are the people who wanna come in here and hurt us and wanna destroy us? Until we know how to do that, just like it would be foolish to put your child out in the neighborhood knowing that that was going on, it’s foolish for us to accept people if we cannot have the appropriate type of screening.” Read more.
