Two unidentified students confessed to drawing swastikas and “White Power” on cars at Calvin College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

According to WoodTV, the incident happened Sunday evening and the words were drawn on six snow-covered cars on campus.

Calvin College President Michael Le Roy alerted students of the incident the following day, calling it a “sin.” The liberal arts college is also an educational institution of the Christian Reformed Church. LeRoy informed students that two culprits confessed to the act after surveillance cameras captured them drawing the White supremacy symbol on the vehicles.

“The swastika is the symbol of white supremacy and it is a symbol totally out of sync with our Christian mission,” Calvin College President Michael Le Roy said. “And it’s something we feel strongly needs to be opposed categorically.”

LeRoy didn’t reveal the punishment the students will face. Instead, he asked the student body and the general public to forgive them.

WoodTV reports:

“Racism is one subcategory of sin and so all of us are corrupted by sin and all of us have prejudices that hold us captive and hold us back from the kind of deep and meaningful relationships that we believe God calls us to,” Le Roy said.

The act comes days after the images of African-American professors at Harvard Law School were covered with black tape. Students held an open forum on racial bias at the school and covered the professor’s photos with positive messages.
