Last month, former NFL Bengal, Devon Still met with the Huston Texans for a workout in hopes of being signed to a contract. Well, God is good! The Texans have signed Still to a futures contract for the 2016 season.
Still posted a link on twitter announcing the news. He stated, “Leah’s last treatment is Friday. I just signed a contract to get back to doing what I love. I would say this week is a good week! I told myself from day one with Leah’s diagnosis I would give her my all and sacrifice my career because if I lost her to cancer I could never get her back but if I lost football, given the right opportunity, I could get it back. Thanks to the Texans for giving me that opportunity!”
Still’s daughter, 5-year-old Leah, has been an inspiration to everyone who knows her story. Leah has been battling neuroblastoma, a rare form of pediatric cancer, for the past few years. Leah’s latest scans came back showing no evidence of the disease!
Last night, Leah made an appearance to watch LeBron James and the Cavaliers defeat the Wizards. James spoke about Leah being an inspiration to him, and he says she absolutely played a factor in the Cav’s win. “I knew she was going to be there tonight, and her and Zhuri, my baby girl, are my two favorite women in the world,” James said. “They’re just unbelievable. I know my mom and my wife will be a little bit jealous, but they got to take a backseat to those two. Just her strength and her courage and what she’s been through over the last few years, man, it’s uplifting to all of us, and it’s always great seeing her, for sure.” Still posted the below photo/video to his Instagram.
Congrats to Devon on being signed with the Texans, and Congrats to Leah on your last treatment coming up on Friday! You can read more on this story here.
