Arizona Governor, Republican Doug Ducey, has a new plan to make “deadbeat dads” pay their child support.  Ducey wants to publicly shame parents who haven’t paid up by tweeting out their names, along with a photo, from a twitter account that is operated by a state agency.

Ducey brought up the topic of child support during Monday nights State of the State address, where he said the following.

“Some people have referred to me as the ‘hashtag governor.’  Well here’s a new one for all the deadbeat dads out there: Effective immediately, the state is going to begin posting the photos, names and money owed by these losers to social media, with the hashtag ‘deadbeat.'”

While many probably thought this was some sort of scare tactic or joke, Ducey was “dead” serious.  Within hours, the state Department of Economic Security launched the initiative.  They tweeted out a picture of a man who owed over $170,000 in child support.

Thus far, the information of two men has been tweeted out from the account, surely with more to follow.  What gets put out on the internet, stays on the internet.  So, do you think this is a good or bad idea?  You can read more on the story here.
