Michigan National Guard To Help Flint With Lead Contamination In Water Supply

The residents of Flint, Michigan have been exposed to unsafe drinking water for about two years now, and many celebrities are speaking out and offering aid.

In April 2014, Gov. Rick Snyder and other officials decided to change the water supply from Lake Huron to the town’s previous water supply.  The water supply contained salt and flowed through old corroded pipes, which then contaminated the water with lead.  It’s reported that it will take $1.5 billion to fix the problem.  Nearly 9,000 children were exposed to lead poisoning, and 100,000 people total have been exposed to the contaminated water.

A slew of celebrities have decided to use their platforms and speak out on social media.
