The Screen Actors Guild Awards took place this past Saturday, and all the stars were out.  Viola Davis took home her second consecutive SAG Award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Drama Series for her role of Annalise Keating in ABC’s How To Get Away With Murder.

Her acceptance speech was powerful, but what she said backstage in an interview may have been even more powerful.

In a backstage interview, Davis started off talking about how we live in a wold of trending topics.  Davis stated, “Diversity is not a trending topic.”  Davis continued, “All of the actors of color that I know don’t place any limitations on themselves either. Regardless of what is going on with the Academy, regardless of what is going on in Hollywood, they will find a way to be excellent. We always have and we always will.”

Congrats to Viola on her SAG Award win!  Watch her backstage interview below, and hear her speak on diversity starting at the :55 mark.
