20-year-old Shalom Nchom, took a selfie that is now going viral. The make-up artist, and YouTube beauty vlogger wants to share an empowering message with the world. The viral selfie shows Nchom’s face half with make-up, and half without make-up.
Nchom wants people to know they can love themselves no matter what they look like. She says, “You should love yourself either way—makeup or no makeup. Makeup is not the reason why I am happy. I’m happy because I love myself.”
In an interview with BuzzFeed, she spoke about how she got bullied because of her burn scars. She decided to start watching make-up tutorials on YouTube, then quickly realized she had a passion for doing make-up. Some of her classmates recognized her make-up talents, and soon started paying her for make-overs.
