Prince has caught criticism from some of his fans after he had all of his concert footage removed from YouTube and Instagram.  He is currently on his Piano & A Microphone Tour, and fans have been uploading their recordings of his show to social media.

Now, his fans have taken to Twitter to ask him why he is having the footage removed.  He defended his stance by calling out YouTube for not paying licensing fees.

In one of the many since then deleted tweets, Prince says, “Since YouTube doesn’t pay equitable licensing fees, isn’t this a nonsensical question? Peace.”  He continued, “Shouldn’t ur concerns b directed at YouTube and not here?”

Artists are cracking down on their content making it online.  Last October, Janet Jackson came under fire for having her fans Instagram accounts deleted for posting footage of her Unbreakable Tour.  You can read all of Prince’s tweets here.
