The 100 block of Saint Joseph Street may be renamed “Amos Brown Way.” A City Council committee voted unanimously Thursday to honor the radio pioneer and civil rights activist who worked here at the stations of WTLC, Hoosier Radio & TV and Radio One. The full council will vote on the proposal May 9. Brown also served as a columnist for The Indianapolis Recorder newspaper. The 100 block of St. Joseph Street was chosen because its the location of his radio stations, Radio One-Indianapolis. Brown passed away in November 2015.
