One local school is upgrading its technology by giving each and every student a brand new iPad.
The competition to get the iPads was tough, but JFK Elementary in Maple Heights was top of the class.
Principal Zelina Pames applied for an Apple grant and won. Out of 114 schools in the country, JFK is one of three in Ohio to win the award. It means all 575 students will get a brand-new iPad.
“It’s a wonderful, amazing. I can’t find the words to explain how this is going to better our community here. My students, their future is so bright and I’m just really excited for what our students will accomplish,” said Pames.
It’s all a part of President Obama’s ConnectED & Apple’s plan to upgrade technology in under-served schools across the country. Students will learn how to use the iPads in and out of the classroom and they’ll always be connected, thanks to AT&T’s free wifi.
