A photo of a Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer has gone viral after he calmed down an autistic and possibly suicidal teen.  The photo has made it’s rounds on Facebook, and has received thousands of likes, shares, and positive comments.

Officer Tim Purdy was sent out on a call that an autistic high school student had left campus and may harm himself.  The officer was told that the young man had a history of displaying violent behavior due to his neuro-developmental disorder.

Officer Purdy said he kept thinking, as he was getting out of his car, about how he was going to handle the situation to help this young man out.  He saw the young man sitting on the ground, so he decided to sit down with him to make eye contact.  After talking things out with the teen, the officer even got some laughter out of him.

Keep up the good work, Officer Purdy!  Read more on the story from ABC News here, and check out the viral post below that has been shared over 250,000 times.
