J.J. Abrams, most recently known for directing Star Wars:  The Force Awakens, is set to co-produce a television series about Michael Jackson with author Travis Smiley.  The miniseries is said to be based on Travis Smiley’s book, Before You Judge Me: The Triumph and Tragedy of Michael Jackson’s Last Days.

The project is still in the early stages of production, and has not yet been picked up by a specific network.  The miniseries will take viewers through the last sixteen weeks of Jackson’s life, before his death in 2009.

It has also been revealed that Abrams and Smiley may also be working on a Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. miniseries, based on Smiley’s 2014 book, “Death of a King: The Real Story of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.’s Final Year.”
