The chemistry between Morris Chestnut and Regina Hall is undeniable.
The duo play a married couple—John and Laura Taylor—desperate to have a baby in the psychological thriller When The Bough Breaks, out in theaters today. With all their other options exhausted, they find a surrogate, Anna (played by Jaz Sinclair), to give them the family they always wanted.
Unforeseen circumstances lead to John and Laura inviting Anna into their home. While all seems innocent in the beginning, Anna’s obsession for John sends her down a psychotic path.
“The temptation was really trying to take on the burden of my wife, because we have a surrogate living in our guest house and she’s doing certain things while she has out child,” Morris said in an exclusive interview with #TeamBeautiful. Morris revealed his character didn’t tell his wife because he thought he could handle it.
Whether or not John fought the temptation remains to be seen, however he does admit his co-star has some hidden talents.
“There is a scene in the movie when Regina puts in work,” he says with a laugh. “Regina has a hidden talent that I wasn’t aware of until we did this movie.”
Regina chimed in, complimenting Morris’ debonair looks. “We got to be married. We got to do what married people do. Ladies, y’all look at this mouth, these teeth, these looks all the time. I experienced them.”
When we asked the fictional couple who their ideal celebrity surrogate would be, Regina answered “Beyonce,” but it Morris’ response that surprised us.
“Patti Labelle. Patti can cook so I would have Patti be the surrogate. And she’s a great mother. I worked with Patti many years ago. She could sing to the baby.”
