Happy Birthday to soul, gospel singer Emily “Cissy” Houston (née Drinkard; born September 30, 1933). She led a successful career as a backup singer for such artists as Elvis Presley and Aretha Franklin, and is now primarily a solo artist, and has won two Grammy Awards for her work. She is mother of Whitney Houston, aunt of Dionne and Dee Dee Warwick, and cousin of Leontyne Price.
