The actress best known as the iconic character ‘Princess Leia’ in the original “Star Wars” film trilogy, Carrie Fisher, is dead at the age of 60. Fisher died after suffering a heart attack on a flight from London to Los Angeles last week. People on board the plane gave the “Star Wars” actress CPR. Fisher also reprised her princess role in “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” in addition to authoring a book, The Princess Diarist.
Fisher’s other credits include the films “Shampoo,” “The Blues Brothers,” and “Hannah And Her Sisters.” Born into fame, Fisher is considered Hollywood royalty. Her patents are actors Debbie Reynolds and the late-Eddie Fisher.
The universe is reacting to Fisher’s death:
Mark Hamill (@HamillHimself) tweeted a picture of his Luke Skywalker character with Fisher’s Princess Leia. He wrote, “no words” along with the hashtag “devastated.”
Fisher’s “Empire Strikes Back” and “Return of the Jedi” co-star Billy Dee Williams said, “the force is dark today.” Williams played Lando Calrissian in the two films. He also called her, “a dear friend, whom I greatly respected and admired.”
“Star Trek” actor William Shatner says he’s “deeply saddened” to learn of Fisher’s passing. He called her a “wonderful talent” and said he’ll miss their banterings.
