A violent post on social media regarding Hamilton Southeastern Schools has the Fishers Police Department on alert and a community alarmed. The police plan to be onsite at the schools today, according to WRTV-6. This stems from a post seen Monday night on a live screen during an Instagram icebreaker at an off campus Hamilton Southeastern High School Young Life event. Attendees took pictures and reported the ominous message. School officials and Fishers police quickly investigated and found the individuals responsible. Though Fishers police don’t believe there’s a credible threat to the schools they will act out of precaution.

Later on Monday night on the city’s northwest side, a 14-year-old was coming out of the Popeye’s Chicken in the 3000 block of West 16th Street when police say he was shot around 7 p.m. IMPD officers say they found the teen shot in the chest and unresponsive behind that restaurant. He was taken to Riley Hospital for Children in critical condition and that’s where he died. Investigators are reviewing security camera footage and asking neighbors for any leads in the case. So far, neither victim’s name has been released. If you have info about either murder, call Crime Stoppers at 317-262-TIPS.

The Ten Point Coalition is being recognized by the FBI. The group received on Monday, the Director’s Community Leadership Award for their work in reducing homicides in the Butler-Tarkington, Crown Hill and United Northwest neighborhoods.  An official ceremony will be held in April in Washington DC.

Indiana’s governor says there’s no bigger job for the president than to protect the country. But on Monday Governor Eric Holcomb also said he doesn’t want to see President Donald Trump’s immigration order ruin Indiana’s welcoming environment. Governor Holcomb is one of many across the country trying to walk a fine line in how their states respond to the president’s order.

Eastern District Of Virginia Federal Attorney Makes Announcement About National Security Case

The career federal prosecutor who’d been Acting Attorney General is out. President Donald Trump fired Acting Attorney General Sally Yates Monday night. Yates wrote in a letter to Justice Department lawyers that she would not enforce Trump’s travel ban because she was not convinced the executive order was consistent with the department’s obligation to seek justice and stand for what is right. Trump quickly replaced her with Dana Boente. Boente served as the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia. He will serve in the acting AG role until Jeff Sessions, or someone else, is confirmed by the Senate. Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is praising Yates, saying she was trying to hold the White House accountable. Yates was an Obama Administration holdover.

Legal minds are reacting to this ‘darkness of night’ U.S. Attorney General move by President Trump. Harvard constitutional law professor Laurence Tribe weighed-in on Yates’ firing. Tribe said it reminded him of the ousting of the attorney general and deputy attorney general during the Watergate scandal an act known as the ‘Saturday Night Massacre.’ He says that one startling difference between the ousting during the Richard Nixon administration and now is, “how quickly this has happened in the Trump presidency.”

The Trump administration has also named a new head of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Thomas Homan is replacing Daniel Ragsdale as the acting ICE director. Homan was the agency’s executive associate director of enforcement and removal operations. Homeland Security Secretary John Kelly says he’s confident that Homan will continue to be a “strong, effective leader” for those in ICE.

President Trump will announce his nominee for the U.S. Supreme Court tonight. Trump is scheduled to make the announcement at the White House at 8 p.m. Eastern time. Trump will nominate a successor to conservative Justice Antonin Scalia, who died last February. Former-President Barack Obama’s nominee to fill the seat, Judge Merrick Garland, was obstructed by Republicans though Garland is a known conservative.

Press Secretary Sean Spicer Holds Briefing At White House

White House Press Secretary Sean Spicer says he disagrees with harsh comments made about the news media by the president’s chief strategist.  You may recall the former Breitbart executive and now Trump strategist Steve Bannon had called the press “the opposition party,” and suggested it “keep its mouth shut.” But Spicer accuses journalists of being increasingly negative and says they make too many mistakes. (Remember Spicer is the guy who stood in front of the White House press corps and said, “This was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period, both in person and around the globe”…another time he responded to a question about who the president is meeting with from the African-American community and told journalist April Ryan, “April, I mean just the other day, he sat down with Martin Luther King Jr…” He was obviously mistaken since the civil rights leader was killed in 1968 long before a Trump presidency. Trump met with King’s son, Martin L. King III.)  Speaking at George Washington University’s School of Media and Public Affairs, Spicer said reporters were wrong when they claimed that the chairman of the joint chiefs of staff was demoted when Bannon was given a permanent seat on the National Security Council. WTLC never reported “a demotion.” We reported the fact that that chairman of the joint chiefs (the military) is now on an “invitation only” status to those National Security Council meetings—which means he has no permanent seat–both moves which prompted a response from former security council advisor, Susan Rice. Rice called it, “stone cold crazy. After a week of crazy.” Bannon in his role at Breitbart and beyond was and is a promoter of the White Nationalist/Racist ‘Alt-Right’ movement.

The man suspected of killing six people at a Canadian mosque is being charged with six counts of first-degree murder.  Twenty-seven-year-old Alexandre Bissonnette was also charged with five counts of attempted murder. It’s been widely reported that this Caucasian French-Canadian was a right-wing troll who openly supported Donald Trump. More than a dozen people were hurt in the attack. Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called the shooting a “terrorist attack on Muslims.”

Today is also the deadline to sign up for coverage under the Affordable Care Act. Those who do so by tonight’s deadline will have health insurance through the end of the year and will avoid a tax penalty for being uninsured. The end of open enrollment comes amid efforts by Congressional Republicans to repeal and replace ‘Obamacare,’ former-President Obama’s signature piece of legislation. To sign up, visit
