Jazz on the Avenue – Rob Dixon Trio

One of the Madame Walker Theatre Center’s longest-running programs, Jazz on the Avenue, is a monthly evening of live entertainment from local jazz favorites, dancing, and dinner. This Friday, hear saxophonist Rob Dixon performing jazz, funk, and jam music with his trio. Admission is $10, and dinner is available for an additional $10.

Museum by Moonlight

The Children’s Museum will be closed to guests under 21 Saturday for this annual adults-only night complete with food samples, cash bar, dancing in the Dinosphere®’s silent disco, a sneak peek at the Riley Children’s Health Sports Legends Experience, rides on the Chocolate Slide, giant Jenga and Yahtzee, and plenty of time to explore the exhibits. Tickets are $75-$85.

Orchids: Cultivating Beauty

Following the success of last year’s orchid exhibition in the Madeline F. Elder Greenhouse, the IMA will once again showcase hundreds of stunning orchids from around the world, providing the perfect tropical escape from the winter chill. New this year, the exhibition will extend through the Lilly House, using orchids as decor. An accompanying Pop-Up Shop will be installed inside the main Museum building with orchids for sale.

Indy Wings Week

For seven days, restaurants around Indianapolis will be offering wings for HALF OFF regular menu price.

Participating restaurants include: 317 Burger, Al’s Pub & Pizza, Arni’s Restaurant, Brothers Bar & Grill Indianapolis, ClusterTruck, Drake’s Keystone, HopCat – Broad Ripple, Hops & Fire Craft Tap House, Maxine’s Chicken and Waffles, Monon Food Company, Old Pro’s Table, Oso’s Republic, Redemption Alewerks, Robby’s Pub, Stacked Pickle Bar/Restaurant, Taylor’s Pub at Nora, Tavern On South, The RAM – Indianapolis, The Vanguard.

This event benefits Indianapolis non-profit Second Helpings!

Shipwrecked

Beyond its inspirational and artistic contributions,Shipwrecked, will serve as a fundraiser for Carter’s latest venture, Royal Sno. Royal Sno, a sno-cone franchise, will teach youth participants entrepreneurship skills as they will own and operate the business (housed in a mobile bus) during the summer and throughout the school year.

Shipwrecked opens at the Theater on the Fort Feb. 24 at 7:00 pm and will show again on; February 25 at 12:00 pm (Youth Show), 3:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Joining Carter will be special guests Matthew Cooper (visual artist), Chantel Massey (Feb.24) and Keiana Whatley (Feb.25).  Tickets are $30 each and can be purchased online atbrownpapertickets.com
