In an exclusive Afternoons with Amos interview, a national foundation reported that Indiana is one of the ten worst states in graduating Black males from high school. A report titled Yes We Can by the Schott Foundation for Public Education reported that just 42% of Indiana’s Black males graduated from high school in 2008, the eighth lowest percentage of the fifty states and Washington DC. The worst states were New York, Florida, South Carolina and Louisiana. The Indianapolis Public Schools also fared poorly on the national study.  And not just for low Black male graduation rates. The graduation rates for white males in IPS is even worse than that for Black males.
