Customers have not been informed about the occurrence by DPS. KERA says they reached out to DPS for a comment but have yet to hear back yet.
The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) was tricked into sending 3,000 replacement driver’s licenses to a Chinese criminal organization in December 2022. This organization specifically targeted Asian Texans. They made phony accounts on Texas.gov using stolen personal data.
