EVANSTON, IL.–The Indiana Hoosier men’s basketball team gets ready to face the Northwestern Wildcats Wednesday night at Welsh-Ryan Arena in Evanston, Illinois.
Northwestern has beaten Indiana four straight times. Indiana’s Head Coach Mike Woodson said Tuesday that his team must go into the game on Wednesday with the right mindset.
“You can’t go in there with a soft attitude and mind because they will force you to play hard. When you go on the road, you gotta do everything right. You can’t turn it over, you have to rebound with them, and you gotta make shots. That’s the key ingredient,” said Woodson.
The Hoosiers are coming off a 77-76 victory over Ohio State in overtime last Friday despite only making six out of 20 three-point shot attempts (30%).
“I have to get them more comfortable in making them (three-pointers) because we are getting some good looks, especially from key guys that we expect to make them. We just gotta keep working. That’s all you can do,” said Woodson.
Four of those six shots were hit by IU senior Luke Goode. He scored a career high 23 points. Goode has posted at least eight points in six of his seven appearances in the starting lineup.
“I’m very pleased with how he’s been playing. We’re going to need him to grow and play at that level to help us win games,” said Woodson.
Indiana had lost two games in a row prior to the Ohio State victory. Woodson says practice and hard work helped get them out of that funk.
Indiana is 14-5 overall and 5-3 in the Big Ten. Northwestern is 11-7 on the year and 2-5 in Big Ten play. Tipoff on Wednesday night is at 7 pm. Pregame coverage starts at 6 pm on 93.1 WIBC.
