Man Arrested After Driving Forklift into Books-A-Million in Muncie

MUNCIE, Ind. — A man was arrested after he drove a forklift into a bookstore in Muncie early Friday, causing damage and injuring himself.
Officers arrived at the Books-A-Million on North Granville Avenue, near East Princeton Avenue and North Barr Street, after 4:45 a.m. They found 34-year-old Grayson Noles standing next to the forklift, bleeding from his right hand from shards of glass.
Court documents say the bookstore took damage to its front doorway.
After being detained, Noles told police he was in the parking lot with three other people who persuaded him to get onto the forklift and to drive it into the bookstore.
However, court documents say Noles only said he did not know why he did it when he was asked.
Officers say Noles’ account of how many people were with him changed several times. Initially, he told authorities there were two other people present, but it later changed to Noles saying five people were with him.
Noles was taken to the Delaware County Jail, with a bond set at $5,000, according to court documents.
