CARMEL, Ind. (WISH) – There are new developments in a story 24-Hour News 8 first reported last Thursday.

24-Hour News 8 has learned the Carmel Police Department is now investigating a bullying incident at Carmel High School that resulted in three senior basketball players being disciplined.

The high school’s principal alerted police about the incident that took place on a bus following a game in Terre Haute on January 22. The older players allegedly called the freshman players to the back of the bus. Four coaches were on the bus at the time. ( Click here to read more )

Initially police did not take a report about the incident. Principal John Williams said the bullying did not rise to the level of a criminal offense.

Williams told 24-Hour News 8 he felt the situation was handled properly. He said privacy laws prohibit him from discussing what happened or the punishments he handed out.

According to students at the school, the three seniors were suspended for five days.
