An INDOT spokesperson tells Eyewitness News that most of the eastbound lanes of I-465 will reopen after a tanker explosion earlier this week.

All but the far left lane of I-465 eastbound will reopen at midnight Sunday, officials say. Inspectors have spent the past several days inspecting an overpass at I-465 and I-69 where a propane truck caught fire and exploded Thursday morning.

“We’re pleased to announce that we’re going to be able to reopen I-465 eastbound, all except the left lane, at midnight and certainly before the Monday morning commute,” said INDOT spokesman Will Wingfield.

Motorists traveling south on I-69, however, will still be unable to exit onto I-465 southbound while crews keep working on the bridge. Wingfield says that route could be reopened by the middle of this week.
