Another Big Ten Tournament championship for Sharon Versyp’s team means a game close to home for the opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament.

The Purdue women’s team found out on Monday night that they will be a fourth seed in the Oklahoma City region and will be in Louisville for potentially two games to start the tournament.

Versyp’s Boilermakers will face Liberty in the first round on Sunday, March 24th at noon at the KFC Yum! Center. If they win that game they would play the winner of the game between host Louisville (5th seed) and Middle Tennessee (12th) that Tuesday.

Defending national champion Baylor is the No. 1 seed in the Oklahoma City region and would be the likely opponent for the Boilermakers if they win two games in Louisville.

Purdue won the 1999 Women’s Basketball National Championship and made the national championship game in 2001. In her time in West Lafayette, Versyp has led the Boilers to a pair of Elite Eight appearances in 2007 and 2009.
