Former New Orleans Mayor Ray Nagin  was found guilty on Wednesday of 20 of 21 charges he faced in his federal corruption trial. Nagin was convicted of bribery, conspiracy, money laundering, and other charges in connection with taking bribes in return for city contracts during his term as mayor. Nagin, who served two terms as the city’s mayor, ran on a platform of cleaning up the corruption often associated with the Crescent City. He could face more than 20 years in prison.  He’ll be sentenced in June.  Nagin last spoke in Indianapolis in 2006 addressing a convention of media professionals regarding the economic struggles faced by New Orleans and the value of its citizens in the wake of the destruction of Hurricane Katrina. ###
