All during the 2014 Election, Afternoons with Amos has aired an unprecedented number of live interviews with candidates running for office. In the Fall election, some fifty-four different candidates were interviewed live in extensive interviews that included questions and concerns from Afternoons with Amos listeners and the community. Incumbent three term Congressman Andre Carson was the final interview of the election season and answered questions and concerns from Amos and listeners. Carson talked openly about his record the last two years and the hundreds of millions in Federally funded projects and programs he brought back to Indianapolis and the district. Carson defended his record against critics that said he could’ve have done more for the African-American community. And reminded listeners that he’s the Congressman for everyone in the district. Carson talked about his annual job fairs that have provided employment opportunities for scores of Indianapolis residents. Even reaching out when a listener called with his problems finding full time employment two years after losing his full time job. Carson also talked education, reducing the high cost of college and efforts to provide opportunities for ex-offenders and protecting the jobs at the Amtrak facility in Beech Grove.
