New Years Day brought lots of changes to Indianapolis television. On that day WISH-TV/Channel 8 expanded their coverage of local news and added prime time programs of the CW Network. To talk about the positive changes for the station and community, WISH-TV Anchor Lori Wilson appeared on Afternoons with Amos to talk about the station’ increased commitment to local news.
Wilson now anchors a two hour evening newscast start runs from 5pm to 7pm and additional 90 minutes of news from 10pm to 11:30pm. Channel 8 also now has an hour of news at noon and nearly five hours of local news in the morning from 4:30am to 9am. Joining Wilson was Channel 8’s Vice-President/General Manager Les Vann who talked about the station and its ownership Media General to be a more local oriented TV station. Vann talked about Channel 8 adding the programming of the CW Network, which includes popular shows like Supernatural, Golden Globes nominee Jane the Virgin , The Arrow, America’s Next Top Model and The Vampire Diaries. Joining Vann and Wilson was Channel 8 veteran and Public Affairs Director Tina Cosby, who talked about Media General cont9nuing Channel 8’s minority scholarship program which provides a educational scholarship and internship opportunities for minority students in broadcasting. Cosby, Vann and Wilson also answered questions about the change in programming from Afternoons with Amos Listeners.
