President Barack Obama visited Indianapolis for the first time in four years and possibly his last visit to the city as President. The President spoke at Ivy Tech Community College’s Conference and Culinary Arts Center in the what was the old Stouffer’s Hotel on North Meridian Street.  In front of a crowd of 390 persons, including Ivy Tech students, lawmakers, top city and civic officials including former Senator Richard Lugar, Senator Joe Donnelly, Congressman Andre Carson, Mayor Greg Ballard,  In a ression that ran an hour and ten minutes, (2:33pm to 3:43pm) the President talked about his efforts to help middle class families in America and then took ten questions in a Town Hall setting. Topics included College Savings 529 plans, his free community college initiative, help with cost of textbooks, help for HBCU’s, reducing partisanship in politics and much more. After his speech the President taped his weekly radio and TV address in a adjoining room at Ivy tech where President Obama discussed “Everyone Who Works Hard Should Get Ahead”.

Before the President’s speech, AM1310 The Light Afternoons with Amos and Host/Managing Editor Amos Brown anchored over 90 minutes of live coverage before the President’s speech. Amos interviewed some of the key figures in attendance.  Including Indiana Lt.
