Tia Mowry is speaking out against those who have body shamed her on social media.  Mowry recently posted a picture on Instagram, and it led users to comment asking if she was pregnant.

Mowry, star of the Cooking Channel’s Tia Mowry at Home, ended up defending herself against those pesky body shamers.  Mowry stated, “Guys, I am not pregnant. I am just happy. I’ve gained these extra 10 [or] 15 pounds because of my cooking show.”

In an interview with Huffpost Live, Mowrey talks about the constant comments about her body that come along with being in the spotlight.  “I’m just enjoying life, and when I want to drop the pounds, I will. But right now I’m happy with who I am.  We live in a society that is so obsessed with being perfect. Why can’t we just be us? Someone even wrote on my Instagram today, ‘Looks like you’ve picked up a little weight. I hope you lose it. I want you to lose it.’ It’s like, really? Why would you say that? Why do you feel the need to say that?”

Mowry would like the body shaming to stop, not just for her, but for everyone who gets body shamed, especially women.  Mowry wants women of all sizes and shapes to be celebrated on magazines and in advertisements to help shatter the ideologies that everyone needs to be thin to be considered beautiful.
